Some people choose to support the Eisteddfod by sponsoring a competition. This could be in the form of prize money or money towards the purchase of the trophy or medal. Often this is done in memory of a loved one who themselves were great supporters of the Eisteddfod or sometimes just because the donor wishes to support competitors.
The Eisteddfod programme contains details of all the prize monies and trophies/medals awarded against each competition. It also contains the names of those who have donated money towards those prizes, although people do choose, on occasions, to remain anonymous.
